HOW TO USE THESE MAPS

The first step to successful learning is UNDERSTANDING.

Use these maps to really get your head around how each region fits together. Make them yours by colouring them in and annotating them with key weather systems, grapes, producers, soil types, other key facts etc, as you go through your study materials. Use them to create a powerful visual 'mental image' of the region, engaging your spatial memory and photographic memory. Use them to help you engage in active learning - not just passively sitting reading or copying out notes.

The second step to successful learning is RECALL.

Once you feel you understand the region, test yourself by printing out another blank map and trying to annotate it or even try talking through the key points of each region to an imaginary student.  It's a great way of discovering which areas are still a bit muddled in your mind.

WHAT THESE MAPS ARE NOT

These maps are not to scale. They're not exact copies of the Diploma textbook maps - in some cases they're more detailed, in others less so. They are tidied up versions of the simplified, schematic maps I created for myself when studying for the Diploma, based on multiple sources. They do not follow the exact cartographic contour lines of the regions - I'm not a professional cartographer! They're designed to be schematic, diagrammatic, simplified representations of the regions.  They're not endorsed by WSET (I haven't asked).

I hope you find these a useful and enjoyable resource!
