The distinctiveness of their upright silhouette which so defines the visual landscape of Italy is matched by the distinctiveness of their woody, fresh, pine-like scent. The resinous, balsamic note (not to be confused with Balsamic vinegar) can be found in earthy, complex red wines such as Brunello di Montalcino or Aglianico del Vulture.
